Download the Sponsorship and Donation Form

Children currently waiting for a sponsor: 13

Sponsorships not yet assigned to a child: 5

If you are a taxpayer in France, your donations are tax-deductible up to 66%, within the limit of 20% of your taxable income.

How does sponsorship work?

To sponsor a child, simply download and complete the support form (link above) and send it to nathanaelfrance@orange.fr.

A member of Nathanaël AF.B.S. will then contact you to discuss any preferences you may have and share information about the children currently waiting for a sponsor.

Once the sponsorship is in place, you will be connected with your child. For younger children in primary school, the Malagasy team or volunteers will scan their letters and drawings and forward them to you by email. Your messages will be passed on to the child in return.

Older children have their own email address and will be able to communicate with you directly.

You will receive the child's school reports approximately every two months, along with updates on their academic progress.

How and why make a donation?

To make a donation, download and complete the support form (link above) and send it to nathanaelfrance@orange.fr.

A donation is a great option if you would like to support the Centre as a whole rather than sponsoring a specific child. Your donation may be used to fund the education of unsponsored children, to organise the Centre's annual outing, or to purchase materials and equipment.

How are donations and sponsorships used?

The Nathanaël AF.B.S. association collects funds in France and Europe and passes on 99% of all sponsorships and donations received — the remaining 1% covers bank charges.

The association Les Enfants de Tulear, which manages the Centre under the supervision of AF.B.S., allocates the funds received as follows:

  • Bank and postal charges: 1%
  • Centre operating costs: 82%
  • Building investment and maintenance: 17%

In total, 99% of all sponsorships and donations go directly to supporting the life and development of the Centre Orphelinat Nathanael.

As of end 2025, the monthly cost of providing schooling, accommodation, food and healthcare has remained stable at around €35 per child — unchanged since 2017. This figure does not include investments in buildings or equipment.

The monthly sponsorship cost per child is €35, broken down as follows:

Monthly sponsorship breakdown per child — €35

Wages and social contributions for Malagasy staff represent 41% of the budget. E.D.T. employs 17 local staff members, with a minimum monthly wage of approximately €60.
The remaining funds from sponsorships and donations go towards building repayment and future investments.

PROJECTS
The Centre Orphelinat Nathanael has 3 main ongoing projects:

  1. Continue welcoming new children to the Centre from the age of 6 at the start of each school year.
  2. Build partnerships with local businesses in Tuléar — offering apprenticeships, internships or training opportunities for the children, and inviting professionals to visit the Centre to present their careers and inspire future vocations.
  3. Maintain, renovate and improve the buildings: in 2025, a well was built in the central courtyard and solar panels were installed on the roofs.

A word of thanks

In early 2010, the Centre — then home to 49 children — was facing serious financial difficulties. Closure was being considered, along with the sale of the premises to repay creditors.

The welfare of those 49 children proved to be a decisive reason to find another way. With the creditors' agreement, it was decided to spread repayments over time without disrupting the Centre's operations, and to divide its management between two associations:

The Malagasy-registered association E.D.T. was created to handle the day-to-day management of the Centre on the ground. The French association Nathanaël AF.B.S. — already established since 2005 and holding tax-approved status in France — updated its mandate to take over the management of donations and sponsorships.

All creditors were finally fully repaid by the end of 2024. We are deeply grateful for their patience and trust.

In 2025, freed from debt repayment obligations, we were able — for the very first time — to carry out building renovations and invest in solar panels.

These improvements were made possible by the ongoing generosity of our sponsors and regular donors, whose contributions fund the children's education and the Centre's daily operations. A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you!

Your support allows us to continue the work already accomplished and helps us turn our projects into reality.
